About This Project: Evolution Revolution

In October of 2011 Victoria and I were asked to perform for a live webcast in Santa Fe, NM at the Center For Spiritual Living. It was a talk being done on the Revolution of Consciousness and was being produced by our friends at The Shared Visions Network.

As I thought about this I decided I would write a song for the occasion. I had written a song years ago, the mid 80's, called Evolution Revolution. The song itself had no shelf life and needed to be rewritten but I liked the title.

I sat down, auspiciously enough, on 9/11/11 and wrote the song that is the basis for this EP. I wanted that old 60's big sing along chorus, and an easy melody that people could hopefully instantly sing to. Something simple. If you explore the video section of this website you will see the live performance of the song in Santa Fe, it's first public airing, and the audience joined right in!

With all the change in the world today - the revolution of the times- I wanted to express the idea that Mother Theresa once expressed. She stated she was not interested in attending anti-war protests but she would attend a peace rally. The song Evolution Revolution is intended to point that same way. To revolt against something is not enough, even a successful revolt leaves a vacumn unless there is a vision of what the hoped for change is to evolve into.

In the case of this song, it is addressing the need for that evolution revolution on a personal level, where it must begin before it can be applied on any larger scale.

I decided it could be fun to not only see if I could realize the 60's "wall of sound" style production that I originally envisioned, but also present the song itslef in its evolutionary stages. The Coffeehouse version of this song is much like it was written, me and the acoustic guitar with Victoria joining in on vocal and harmonica. Then there is the 60's mix, with Justin "Scatecrow Adams" Walden on drums and Eddie Weiss on electric guitar along with Victoria's harmonica and voals and myslef on a variety of instruments.

Finally, I wanted a modernized remixed version, blown out, and retooled with the edginess and beat of the contemporary remix world. Scarecrow Adams used his creative vision to give us all that, with an edgy and hypnotic remix version.

Sacrecrow Adams mixed all the tracks.

The project can be found on BandCamp currently by Clicking Here.

I hope you enjoy the various versions, and blessings to everyone on their own Evolution Revolution.
